STEAM/its generation and use

The 42nd edition of Steam/its generation and use, a book written and published by Babcock & Wilcox, details advances in the production of steam and the utilization of all types of fuels. STEAM remains the longest continuously published engineering text of its kind in the world. This edition marks the 140th anniversary of the first edition which was published in 1875.

Contributions include:

  • Design and layout of the entire publication
  • Wrap and DVD label design
  • Photo editing and retouching of numerous images and photographs throughout the book
  • Design and layout of the shipping package
  • Printed formal acknowledgement in the publication (page vii)

The publication is well over a thousand pages and was a project that spanned three years of evenings and weekends to complete.

Game Table - Board Games and Digital

Like most I enjoy the occasional board game and more so table-top gaming with family and friends. While visiting a friend I was inspired by a table-top gaming surface he created that fit directly over his existing dining room table. I wanted to create something similar after seeing it, not just an attachable surface per say, but to see if I could design and construct my very own gaming table from the ground up. I'm fairly handy with a hammer and I found myself highly motivated by the challenge of creating an object of this type.

The project took approximately three months to complete. With the first few weeks spent on conducting research online, multiple trips to the local hardware store and drawing up the actual table design. The design include a pocket shelf for each seat at the table with each person having an outlet in their respective shelf for plugging in any desired electronics. The center of the table is removable to allow for the use of the digital game board (36" LCD TV shown in the above right-hand photo) and LED strip lighting that wrapped around the outer edge of the table for ambient lighting.
